How to fill in a bowling score sheet
Write a bowler’s name at the left of each row and add the team name and date at the top. Each numbered column is one frame. Small boxes hold the delivery marks; the open area underneath holds the cumulative total. Keep a pencil handy because a strike or spare often leaves a total waiting for later deliveries.
Record ordinary pinfall with a digit. Use X when the first delivery at a fresh rack clears all ten pins, / when the second clears the remaining pins, a dash for a miss, and F for a foul. A foul uses a delivery but contributes zero pins. Do not write both a second-delivery number and a spare mark in the same box.
Wait before writing the running total
An open frame can be added when its two deliveries are complete. For a strike, wait for the next two deliveries; for a spare, wait for the next one. Those bonus pins count toward the earlier frame as well as the frame in which they were delivered. The step-by-step scoring guide shows a full 167 game you can copy onto a practice sheet.
The tenth frame has three mark boxes because a strike or spare earns extra play. After an open tenth, leave the third box empty. After a strike and then seven pins, only three remain for the last delivery. Do not draw another frame for fill balls; their pinfall completes the tenth and any waiting earlier bonuses.
Keep handicap separate
Write the completed scratch score in Total. Enter the league’s per-game allowance in HDCP, then add those two numbers in Total with HDCP. Leave the handicap column blank if it does not apply. Use the handicap calculator only with the settings from your league.
Before submitting a paper record, check the first frame where any disagreement appears and recalculate forward. The digital score calculator can replay the deliveries as an independent arithmetic check. A printed sheet is a useful record, but the organizer’s official process still controls corrections and acceptance.
Choose your paper size in the print dialog and inspect the preview before printing. The site requests landscape orientation and omits navigation, instructions and color backgrounds. Each selected game gets its own sheet so the rows remain usable for handwriting.
